The
2008 Recipients
Robert
Miller - Center Valley
Last
October, Robert's employer went bankrupt and he lost his health
insurance. As he was driving home from his temp job on December
27th, he started experiencing symptoms. His condition was
diagnosed as thrombocytopenic purpura, a life-threatening
blood clotting disorder. He spent a month in ICU. The on-going
medical expenses are a daily medical catastrophe for Robert.
Kurt Linhart,
Lower Milford
Kurt's life was dramatically changed when we was diagnosed
with MS in 1995. He is in a wheelchair and receiving disability.
The catastrophic medical expenses associated with Kurt's illness
have all but depleted every dime of his and wife Barb's assets.
Daily they wonder how long they will be able to keep their
home.
Frank Kirka, Coopersburg
Frank has suffered several medical setbacks. He has diabetes,
suffered a stroke, and has severe back problems. He is on
disability and unable to work. Just monthly medications cost
in excess of $5100.00.

Louann
Martucci, Salisbury
After her divorce, Louann enrolled at Cedar Crest College
full of hope and intent on making a new life for herself.
A diagnosis of Breast Cancer halted all her plans and stopped
her in her tracks. In the interim, her cancer has metastasized,
and Louann now only subsists on SSI
David Bishop, Allentown
Chronic
diabetes led to a below-the-knee amputation for David, and
now he simply subsists on disability
Chrisie
Lafrenz, Lower Milford
Sadly. Chrisie lost her battle and passed away on March 24,
2008. She was so uplifted and joyful about being chose as
a recipient for this year's benefit. Her share of the proceeds
this year will be given to her estate to be used for outstanding
bills.
Juanita
Miller, Allentown
Juanita suffers from numerous illnesses including Fibromyalgia,
Asthma, Arthritis, and Depression. Her illnesses were contributory
to ending her marriage and she now subsists on SSI.
Kim Snyder, Allentown
Bi-Polar disorder and back surgery have precluded Kim from getting
and retaining a steady job. She works part-time at a supermarket
to try to make ends meet, but the bills are mounting and their
seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for Kim. |
